OSCARS - SMOSCARS!!!

Is all the Academy Awards hoopla getting up around your chin?

Do you really care what Joan Rivers thinks of Tilda Swinton’s gown?

(Someone should ask Tilda what she thinks of Joan’s polyethylene face!)

Come on - admit it - you really don’t give a damn!!!

Except for the special Oscars for Lauren Bacall and Roger Corman - it will be either a yawn-fest or a train wreck.

(And let’s face it, Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces” was the best film of 2009 - and it didn’t get nominated for jack!)

So why not step away for all these sad, celebrity skins, and listen to some truly glamorous music?

Why not indulge in some glamorous sounds about about some real stars - like Gloria Grahame, Kenneth Anger, Jack Smith, Dario Argento and Mario Bava?

Misty Roses will be featured live in performance on East Village Radio’s Just Music program, March 7, 10 p.m. to midnight.

Our set should commence around 11 p.m.

MISTY ROSES: Misty Roses is an exploration of the black shadows that fall across pop music’s middle of the road.
A transatlantic combo based in London and New York City, their sound is darkly glamorous and melodramatic, turbulent and opulent.

SUGARLIFE: Sugarlife is a performance/music artist living in New York City.

In speaking in third person about himself he says;

“It’s like watching a cheap live daytime soap where the main female character unravels on stage. There is usually some sort of molting which follows…. Imagine if the United States became a third world country and people had to resort to living room theater or decrepit mall theater for entertainment …I’m trying to make manifest the subconscious imagery that inhabits the world of dreams and film.”

Sugarlife explores notions of performance art, identity, and sexuality with an entertaining and often absurd live performance interaction. It tends to be hilarious as well as scary. Whether charging the air with electronic blips or singing a celestial soprano over acoustic guitar blossoms, Sugarlife becomes a sonic shaman where change is the only constant.
